Being physically fit has been defined as "the ability to carry out daily tasks with vigor and alertness, without undue fatigue and with ample energy to enjoy leisure-time pursuits and to meet unforeseen emergencies"

The components of health-related fitness includes:

  • Body composition (percentage of body fat and fat free tissue) i.e weight management.
  • Muscular endurance.
  • Muscular strength.
  • Cardiovascular endurance.
  • Flexibility or stretching.
  • Balance and coordination training.
  • Performance related fitness e.g. sports specific training.
